“Little Girl, I Say To You, Arise.”

Let’s set the scene.

(Mark 5:21-43)

Jesus is by the sea, and a man sees Him and falls at His feet. He is begging Jesus to heal his daughter who is about to die.

This father tells Jesus to come and lay His hands on her that she may be healed and live.

PAUSE…

Do you see the faith of this father? !!!!!!!

He knows that just one touch of Jesus will heal his daughter completely.

That is mind-blowing!

PLAY…

So Jesus goes with the man, and along the way a sick woman touches Jesus’ coat and is healed.

PAUSE…

The faith that the father put in Jesus was just displayed before him.

One touch of Jesus and you will be healed!

The father’s faith was probably made even greater in that moment!

FAST-FORWARD…

Jesus and the father are continuing on their way to the daughter when people come toward them saying that it’s too late, the girl has already died.

They tell the father not to bother Jesus anymore.

As soon as Jesus heard this He told the father not to be afraid but only believe.

PAUSE…

First of all Jesus came to do the impossible! He came to heal His children!

Second, as soon as Jesus hears the news He comforts the father and tells him to keep on believing.

As soon as something/ someone tries to discourage us Jesus reminds us of the faith that has brought us thus far.

FAST-FORWARD…

Jesus enters the daughter’s room, takes the child by the hand, and says,

“Little girl, I say to you, arise.”

Immediately the girl rises and walks!!!!!

Everyone is overcome with great amazement by what just happened!

THE END!

This one phrase, “Little girl, I say to you, arise” really hit me!

This girl had died yet Jesus took her by the hand and told her to get up.

While I was in the process of applying for CGA I had all these fears and all these doubts. I was afraid of the unknown to come. I was doubting that this is what God had planned for me.

If I was in front of you right now you would probably look at me crazy for saying I was afraid. I mean come on! I traveled across the world to four different countries never knowing what lied ahead of me. I walked the streets of India without fear. During PVT I got separated from my parents somehow and ended up on the street alone, yet I had no fear. I was completely calm amongst the chaos surrounding me. This fearlessness within me was because of Jesus and Jesus alone!

But this is different. This time I will be traveling on my own. I will get a job and my community won’t be following me. I won’t be surrounded by my team 24/7. I’m going to have to drive in a less familiar area. I am terrified of driving in places I don’t know very well.

It’s scary!!!

But when I read this passage I knew that God was going to be with me through it all as He was when I was across seas.

I will mess up, that’s a given, I’m human.

But when I fall I know that Jesus will be right there holding my hand and telling me to get up.

I will get up, and I will walk, and people will be amazed because they know I could not do that on my own. They will know it’s because of Jesus, and He will be glorified!

So I say to you, listen to the words of Jesus.

                                                      ARISE!

Let Jesus take you by the hand.

P.S.

I think it’s ironic that this was the passage of scripture God used to get my attention, because my team name from the World Race was Arise.

God has an amazing sense of humor and always brings things into full circle!

THANK YOU JESUS!!!
